Zelleromyces sp
On the forest floor in the Chechester State Forest and Barrington Mountains are often small round berry-like objects without any discernable attachments ot the soil. Zelleromyces sp are often orange to orange white, berry like, with convoluted tissues of light orange to pink forming a complex internal structure. They are frequently spotted on the ground, usually where bush turkeys had been scratching.
Zelleromyces sp. have a mild, pleasant smell, agreeable taste.
