Scleroderma sp

Scleroderma sp, but possibly lycoperdon, Hurstville Grove, Sydney, April, 2008, in soil, cap 35 mm across, 15mm thick, stem 55mm long. Finely warty outer surface, velvety, dry, dark chocolate brown in colour, interior spore mass two tones lighter. Extensive network of white hyphae rising to pale cream stem. Cap slightly flattened elipsoids in soil, under large euaclypt. Smaller specimen had two openings and was very hard, like a gumnut. Thin tough flesh.
